IGE assists to internally displaced persons
IGE Group of Companies donated MMK 14 million to provide need support and assistance to internally displaced persons (IDP) in Shan state and Kachin state. A donation of MMK 10 million was given to the National League for Democracy office in Sanchaung township, Yangon to support IDPs in Kachin State. An additional donation of MMK 4 million was sent directly to IDP camps in Shan state near the city of Muse. The donations provided by township administrators, members of parliament, and the wider community meant that the displaced persons were given food and clothing.
“This support makes life in the camps easier,” said U Zaw Win Naing, Corporate Communications Deputy Executive Director, IGE Group of Companies. State media has reported that more than 2,630 IDPs have fled or were forced to leave their homes after the KIA, TNLA and MNDAA attacked military outposts, police stations and the 105-mile trade camp in Muse and Kutkai on 20 November. Many are currently being sheltered at monasteries and churches in Muse. “Home is better. I wish all of them could can return home as soon as possible,” said U Zaw Win Naing.
